Lampeter Café

Welcome!

We are grateful to have been able to open our spaces for events this year so that our spaces could again be witness to the sounds of celebrating life’s sweet moments, honoring lives and the gathering of minds!

There are some exciting changes coming to the square this fall! Britain Hill Vineyard will be bringing their tasting room to the Livery this November. Stay tuned for details on opening dates and special events. Because of the time needed to transition and some special opening events, we will not be booking private events in October or November. You can find more information on the rental spaces on our Venue Rentals tab.

Last year has been a strange and difficult for many individuals, businesses, and industries as they responded to shutdowns, regulations and limitations, and The Lampeter Cafe is no exception. There are still many questions pertaining to the future of the cafe as we knew it, and with the uncertainty of the season (again), we can not rush into anything. We appreciate your patience and grace as the crew of Britain Hill settles into the space. More details will be released as the rest of the year unfolds. What we know is that it has been an absolute privilege to serve the community and we appreciate each of you. Thank you!

History

Circa 1760, this colonial property on Lampeter Square has been home to a livery, tavern, wainwright, blacksmith, and automobile repair shop. Various owners and businesses offered hospitality to the community and travelers on the old Conestoga Road (Route 741). The beautiful brick home has been repurposed as a fast-casual café to continue its service in the village of Lampeter. Lampeter Café is honored to be the 2017 recipient of the Community Revitalization Award by the Historic Preservation Trust of Lancaster County.
